Assisting limbless veterans to lead independent and fulfilling lives

Blesma, The Limbless Veterans, is an Armed Forces charity dedicated to assisting serving and ex-Service men and women who have suffered life-changing limbloss or the use of a limb, an eye or sight. We support these men and women in their communities throughout the UK. with Frank Garside

Lucy Watts MBE

In my speech I hope to cover a bit about my journey, how my conditions have impacted upon my life, about how much I struggled in the early years of my illness and about my charity work and my need for a purpose in life. I hope to show people you can still succeed and achieve with a disability or medical condition, it’s about finding your strengths and working within your limitations and using your talents and passion to allow you to achieve great things

Medway Dragons -- Wheelchair Rugby

I'm a coach/team manager for Medway Dragons based in Gillingham. First up Wheelchair Rugby League IS NOT Murderball/Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby - you don't need a high level of SCI to qualify. We're open to all disabled, able bodied, female, male! Our age range is 9-mid 50's! Our game follows the rules of the running version of Rugby League with a few tweaks, tags for the tackle, 5 a side, played on a basketball court with in door rugby posts. Our head coach Mark Roughsedge is also the England national coach. Below him we have 3 fully qualified RL Level 2 coaches (all licensed and DBS checked). Our range of disabled players include, Spina Bifida, CP, SCI, amputees and autism. 10:30AM - 11:00 AM

Lucy & Molly Dog -- WINNERS OF FRIENDS FOR LIFE 2014

I nominated Molly for the Friends for Life competition at Crufts, the world's biggest dog show, and in January 2014 we found out we were one of five finalists. We went to the Kennel Club headquarters to launch the competition on the 18th February and Crufts itself came up thick and fast. We had an amazing weekend, and the British public really got behind us, voting us winners of Friends for Life 2014. It was a whirlwind of media requests after that, with newspapers and websites around the world publishing the story, and we appeared on The Alan Titchmarsh Show and Look East. It was truly magical, something we will never forget. And less than 2 months later, Molly was awarded a Dogs Today Medal.

Lucy Watts(MBE)

I'm Lucy, I'm 22 years old, and I have a genetic disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome with life-limiting (life-shortening) complications and it has also left me disabled (wheelchair bound) since I was 14. I am a writer, speaker, charity Ambassador and Trustee, blogger, patient leader and spokesperson and I have appeared in filmed and recorded work including on TV and radio such as BBC Radio 4's The Listening Project and a BBC Three documentary on digital legacies, as well as in videos that have been played at conferences across the UK and indeed all over the world, from Buenos Aires to Asia. My charity work is my life, allowing me to give back and contribute to society, make a difference and use my knowledge and experiences constructively to benefit others. For my charity work, I was appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen's New Year Honours 2016 for my Services to Young People with Disabilities.

Lucy Watts Together for short lives

Together for Short Lives is a UK wide charity that, together with our members, speaks out for all children and young people who are expected to have short lives. Together with everyone who provides care and support to these children and families we are here to help them have as fulfilling lives as possible and the very best care at the end of life. We can’t change the diagnosis, but we can help children and families make the most of their time together.
